Vintage Post Card & Paper Show
Plus, a birthday, message from Spirit, a Substack recommendation, noteworthy reads, and Ebay Stats
Hello, hello, hello!
Can you sense the excitement in my greeting? I hope you can, because there’s one thing you should know about me: it doesn’t take much to make me happy! I’m easily delighted by the simple things in life.
Especially paper.
Yes, I confess, I’m a paper whore... uh, I mean collector. (My husband likes to call it hoarding, but what does he know, right?)
But I digress.
If you’re a fellow paper whore uh collector like me, you’ll understand why I’m practically bouncing with excitement. This weekend, I’ll be strolling through aisles lined with rows and rows of postcards, trading cards, posters, paper dolls, and all sorts of nostalgic ephemera.
I’m pretty sure my eyes will be popping out of my head like a character from a 1940s comic the moment I step through the door.
What door, you ask?
The door that leads me straight into the L.A. County Vintage Postcards and Paper Show.
In the world of ephemera shows, I’m a total newbie. I’m not sure what to expect, how to behave, or what the unspoken rules are.
Will I offend a vendor if I try to negotiate a price on something I feel is overpriced?
As an introvert, how do I build strong relationships with the postcard dealers for future buys?
I’m probably overthinking all of this, don’t you think?
One thing I do know: I’ll be coming home with treasures for my personal collection and items for my eBay store.
Stay tuned—I’ll share my haul with you in next week’s newsletter!

I’d love for you to share your experience if you’ve been to a postcard show or something similar.
The above photo shows my husband and me in 1991 at a bar.
I’m incredibly grateful for everything he does for me. Whether it’s the little things, like opening my water bottles, or the bigger things, like giving up his free time to spend a few days at my mom’s house with me—just to make sure she’s okay after my dad passed away—he’s always there for me.
This weekend, besides the postcard show, I’ll be celebrating my husband. His birthday is on Sunday, and we’ll be staying at my sister’s house, which happens to be very close to the show.
I want to make him feel truly special because he deserves to be celebrated in a big way.
The only thing he ever asks for on his birthday is cake and ice cream.
And by golly! I’m going to make sure he gets the best cake and ice cream he’s ever tasted.

I don’t know how time got away from me this week, but it sure did. Which means I didn’t have time to pick a postcard of the week or send any postcards out.
Boo! I know, I’m disappointed too.
Oh, and last week after I hit the publish button on the newsletter, I realized that I had forgotten to pull a card from Postcards from Spirit deck.
So, here’s today’s message from the card I just pulled two minutes ago.
This Week’s Ebay Stats: $24.95
It’s still slow, but I’m grateful for the three postcards that sold. Take a look at my screenshot.
I’m still figuring out this newsletter, so I am pretty sure I will be tweaking it here and there as I go along.
I’m thinking about changing the day it goes out from Wednesday to Sunday or Monday. It might be easier for me to stay on schedule and keep track of my stats.
Have a great week everyone!

Love the spirit cards. I needed to hear this! Thank you so much for the mention. Someday hope to meet you at the postcard show. It would be such a great honor!
